Let's face it: for modern individuals, writing in Jane Austen's style is not easy. The goal here isn't to stress ourselves out, trying to make every post letter-perfect. The goal here is it have fun and to challenge ourselves a little, while we recreate a simpler time. So you should aim to be close to Jane Austen's style, but you needn't beat yourself up over little flaws. Do the best you can, and as long as nothing is glaringly wrong, it should be fine. I don't have the time to PM people constantly, nitpicking on every little thing, and I certainly don't want you to feel too restricted in your work. It's supposed to be creative, right? What I am especially looking for is originality of character (don't make your character an obvious re-creation of Elizabeth Bennet), depth of character, and development of story. Before you send your post, please consider the following: 1. Is my dialogue true to the character? Does it indicate the thoughts or emotions of the character, creating depth? 2. Does the post describe setting, activities, and people? (Keep in mind, description was not Jane's strong point, and she was often minimal in her descriptive details) 3. Is my language too modern? (ie, did you use words such as "OK" or "hey") 4. Does this post move the story along? 5. Did I give my roleplay partner enough to respond to? If you do these things, there shouldn't be a problem.
